Potem dorobię jeszcze trzy lekkie rydwany - jeden dowódczy i dwa, którymi można opcjonalnie zastąpić elementy kawaleryjskie.

After finishing gallic warbands it's time for one of the optional command elements. II/11 army list shows two options - foot 3/4 Wb (Gen) or LCh (Gen). I decided to paint foot command element first - light chariots will be painted after cavalry. Army list shows that one have to decide - cavalry or chariots, as these two kinds of unit weren't available historically at the same time. Chariots gave way to cavalry, they were seldom used by Gauls after I c BC. Last noted records was at the battle of Mons Grapius in Caledonia in 84AD but they were used as a kind of show of strenght there and didn't participated in fights. They role in the battle was fulfilled by mounted cavalry. As I could choose between 3 or 4 miniatures on the base I opted for denser formation thus, according to the rules, base depth was changed from 20 to 15 mms. I tried to be very precise during painting, taking special care with highlights and shadows and spending additional time painting things like trousers and cloaks. Chieftain's cloak, for example, is directly copied from one of the color plates by Angus McBride from the book "Barbarians" by Concord. Miniature itself is from the "Celtic foot command" blister as I think it is more interesting that one provided by Corvus Belli in army deal boxed set. Rest of the figures on this base came from the boxed set, they look is influenced by the book mentioned above. I'm still two elements short to be able to field DBA Gallic army - I have to paint 2 x 3Cav elements and they are on my painting table right now. Optional light chariots will be last.
