Bandyta z teppo | A bandit with a teppo

Pierwszy ze strzelców mojej bandy to jakiś zapewne były żołnierz, który zachował swoje teppo - wytwarzany na miejscu, w Japonii, arkebuz. Broń ta cieszyła się sporą popularnością ze względu na łatwość konstrukcji, krótkie szkolenie i skuteczność. W rękach wyszkolonego strzelca teppo było - ponoć - bronią groźniejszą od łuku. Już po pomalowaniu zauważyłem jednak, doczytując sobie jakiś artykuł o historii broni palnej w Japonii, że zrobiłem błąd w malowaniu. Mechanizmy spustowe japońskich teppo były bowiem robione z czystego brązu.

Kolejną nowością, jaką widzimy na tej figurce, jest lekki pancerz tatami - lakowane lub nie płytki z żelaza lub skóry, przyszywane do płótna, łączone ze sobą kolczugą. Jak widać, na mojej figurce płytki wykonane są ze skóry. Na głowie wspomniany już we wcześniejszym wpisie charakterystyczny hełm ashigaru, jingasa.

First of the shooters from my bandit bundai is some kind of former soldier probably, runaway from a military service most likely. He is still armed with his teppo - locally produced matchlock arquebus. This weapon was really popular in Japan thanks to be easy to manufacture, short period of necessary training to use it and - last but not least - effectiveness. Some sources claim that teppo was better weapon then Japanese bow, with greater both range and lethality. When my figure was ready I noticed, after reading some article about Japanese firearms, that I made a small mistake - matchlock mechanism should be bronze rather then steel, as this part of Japanese teppo was made from pure brass.

Another new part of equipment clearly visible on this miniature is light armour called tatami - lacquered or not plates of iron or leather, sewn to a cloth backing and connected together by chainmail. My bandit wears leather cleary... And on his head is already mentioned military light helmet, characteristic for ashigaru troops - jingasa.
