Ładuję naprawdę spokojnie... | Steady loading...

Mimo wszystko, stoickie ładowanie w obliczu strzelającego nieprzyjaciela wymagało zapewne i odpowiednio solidnie wbitego szkolenia, i niemałej odwagi.

I read some history book lately and one of the things mentioned in this text was very low effectiveness of shooting during late XVIII firefights. I knew this of course before, but I couldn't stop to wonder... Just loading a musket under fire took tremendous effort of will... It involved more then a dozen separate moves, most of them could be done only when standing still. Well, just tiny percentage of fired bullets actually hit something then but still... I think it was a matter of excellent training and courage to load slowly your own weapon next to the enemy. Nothing I would like to do myself.

Miniature visible next to this note shows just this kind of things - this American militiaman is slowly loading his own musqet, oblivious to the dangers of the battlefield. This is the sixth miniature from the "second series" of commissioned miniatures, you can see this figure painted in different colors here.
I really like the stoic calmness visible in the pose of this miniature.

You can also see the group photo of the last six militiamen under this note. Another batch of six of them is completed for quite a long time too, unfortunately those are the very same miniatures. I will, probably, show them in two groups of three figures, as notes about AWI are not really popular on the blog. It's a pity I think...
I'd like to remind that you can reach me here to talk about commissioning some painting.

  1. Great looking troops in various civilian attire. The turned down hats with small brims are very unique looking.

  2. Thanks Dean for your comment, I'm glad You like them. Regarding hars - I'm not entirely sure they are historically correct. Couldn't find anything similar in my sources. But they are cool I think:)
