Striking Scorpion

Elementy skórzane to drybrush przy użyciu Vermin Brown i Tallarn Flesh, broń rozjaśniałem Shadow Grey, z dodawaną coraz większą domieszką Skull White.

First of two Scorpions, which I painted as a kind of rest from my Night Lords and in a hope of using them in some fan-made skirmish games set in WH40K universe. Well, maybe it will happen one day... Anyway, those miniatures were put aside in some box of unfinished plans or dreams for far too long. Figures were made, if my memory serves me right, in the second half of the nineties, they will blend nicely with some even earlier miniatures which I plan to paint soon. Time was gentle for them I think, as they are still very nice sculpts and they took paint well. Besides, painting them was a breeze, especially considering how slow painter I am. As both Scorpions, the one shown here and the one which will be shown later, will be part of my Ulthwe force, I decided to paint them in darker colors. And I think that dark colors suit well Scorpions' fightning style.

Miniature was basecoated in black, then armour was painted with Dark Angel Green. Next step was drybrush - Gobling Green with more and more Sunburst Yellow. Then whole model was washed with very watered down Imperial Primer. Highlights on the armour were painted next - with Gobling Green and Sunburst Yellow again. Leather part of the gear were drybrushed with Vermin Brown and Tallarn Flesh, weapon was highlighted with Shadow Grey and Skull White. Then layers were blended with watered down black paint. "Black" elements of the helmet were painted with drybrush too - Regal Blue with Shadow Grey. As before, layers were blended in with watered down black.

  1. Great job! Very realistic paint scheme instead of usual bright almost animated looking stuff from GW.
