Stalą i lawą | By steel and lava

Pozostajemy w klimacie rozgrzanej stali i kraterów wypełnionych wrzącą lawą. Drugi z krasnoludów Chaosu produkcji Russian Alternative, pomalowanych przez Mormega. Schemat kolorystyczny i samo malowanie identyczny z pierwszym przedstawicielem tej rasy, pokazanym o tutaj. Zatrzymam się na chwilę przy pewnym szczególe malowania, mianowicie washowanej delikatnie błękitem czy też granatem stali. Efekt finalny można interpretować dwojako - albo jako metal poddany działaniu wysokiej temperatury, albo jako metal szczególnie szlachetny. Obie interpretacje chyba pasują, prawda?

W komentarzu do wcześniej pokazanej figurki pojawiła się opinia, że metal z którego są wykonane produkty Russian Alternative nie jest dobrej jakości, jako że jest bardzo miękki. W przypadku dwóch zestawów, które posiada Mormeg, nie ma tego problemu. Metal jest bardzo zbliżony twardością do ostatniego stopu używanego przez GW. Prawdopodobnie jakaś część odlewów była robiona z innego stopu.

We are still in the land of hot steel and craters filled with boiling lava. Second of the Chaos Dwarves released by Russian Alternative company, painted by Mormeg. Painting scheme and painting itself is exactly the same as the first miniature, which can be seen here. I'd like to point one detail though - light blue or dark blue wash over the steel elements. Final effect may be interpreted twofolds - first, as a metal subjected to intense heat, second - as a precious steel, kind of damascian of our world. Both interpretations work, I think.

In one of the comments to the previous Chaos Dwarf note, it is said that metal which is used by Russian Alternative is so soft, that it is impossible to use these miniatures. Both Mormeg's sets of miniatures are casted in standard, pretty hard metal though - kind of like the last metal alloy used by GW. I think that part of the RA miniatures were casted in some softer alloy...

Idzie nowe. Ten brodaty koleś to jeden ze wzorów figurek wypuszczonych przez Russian Alternative, które podejrzanie przypominają stare dobre czasy kiedy Warhammer był jeszcze Warhammerem, piwo smakowało lepiej, a dziewczyny... sami wiecie jakie były dziewczyny.\

Wraz z nadejściem nowej ery, czyli premierą Age of Sigmar i planowaną na jesień premierą Dragon Rampant pomyślałem, że fajnie byłoby coś pomalować, coś utrzymanego w konwencji fantasy, a że w szafce miałem od dawna pudełko 10 podobnych zuchów wybór padł na krasnoludy chaosu. Może uda się pomalować jeszcze kilka:) Sama figurka robi dobre wrażenie. Trudno jest jednak dopasować do siebie porządnie wszystkie elementy z pudełka. To chyba jedyny minus figurek. Może jeszcze stosunkowo wielgachne łapska. Cena i jakość odlewów jest przystępna i dobra/bardzo dobra. 

Samo malowanie nie stanowi specjalnego problemu. Ot dużo srebra, dużo czarnego washu i znowu rozjaśnienia srebrnym kolorem. Trochę pobawiłem się rozjaśnieniami czerwonego. Na żywo wygląda to chyba nawet ciutek lepiej. Elementy złote, aż trudno uwierzyć, ale po raz pierwszy rozjaśniałem też srebrną farbką. Efekt nienajgorszy. Podoba mi się buzia tego krasnoluda. Też po raz pierwszy, w okolicach oczu i noska położyłem warstwę bardzo rozwodnionej czerwonej farbki. Prosty trik, a jednak znakomicie poprawia efekt końcowy twarzy.

Aha, na koniec jeszcze kilka słów o podstawce, a konkretnie o jej pięknym okrągłym kształcie. Osobiście nie przerażają mnie okrągłe podstawki. Nawet uważam, że figurkom wyjdzie to na zdrowie. Umożliwiają większą swobodę przy klejeniu figurek. Kwadratowe podstawki, zwłaszcza 2cm x 2cm były i tak ledwo widoczne, a czasem nieźle trzeba się było nagłowić, żeby tak poskładać figurki w jednym oddziale, żeby mogły stać obok siebie. Koniec końców, należę pewnie do tych nielicznych osób, które przesiadkę na okrągłe podstawki witają z ulgą.

A new era is coming. This bearded fellow is one of the miniatures released by Russian Alternative, and it is suspiciously similar to the figures from the good, old times, when Warhammer was still Warhammer, beer was better and girls... well, you got the idea already.

With the coming of a new era - Age of Sigmar being released and a planned Dragon Rampart autumn premiere - I came to the conclusion that it will be good to paint somethinf fantasy again. With a box of ten Chaos Dwarves on the top shelf of my cabinet, choice was pretty simple. Well, I think I will manage to paint even some more then this first;) Miniature itself looks good. My only grip is with connecting parts of the miniature - it was rather hard. Hmmm.. On the closer look I think hands could be a little smaller too. Price and quality of cast is good and good/very good.

Painting itself was very straightforward. A lot of silver, a lot of black wash and again silver highlights. I spent a little more time highlightning reds though but I think it looks better in reality then on the photos. And one more thing - as hard as it is to believe, I higlighted gold with silver for a first time in my painting 'career'. Final effect is quite good, I believe. And I really like the face of this fellow. There is a light red ting being visible around the nose and the eyes - another first thing. Simple but ot gives a manacing look.

Oh, yes. Few more words about base, a round base to be more precise. Personally, I'm not afraid of round bases. More, I think that this one change will be really good. Round bases gives more modelling freedom when making miniature. Square bases, especially 20x20mm ones, were barely visible after all, it was very hard sometimes to rank and file troops properly. I think that I'm one of these not so numerous people actually liking this change.
