Duchy, wszędzie duchy | Ghosts, ghosts everywhere

Paręnaście dni temu Mormeg podesłał mi króciutki artykulik z któregoś z nowych White Dwarfów, przedstawiający prosty i jednocześnie efektowny sposób malowania eterycznych undeadów.

Wyciągnąłem banshee - stare i nowe.

A couple of weeks ago Mormeg has showed me a short article from one of recent White Dwarfs, presenting simple yet effective and nice looking method of painting etheral miniatures. I liked it so much that I decided to try this method myself, using new plastic ghosts released by Games Workshop some months ago. Two evenings later ghosts were assembled - these are really fantastic looking miniatures but assembling them... it is a nightmare (probably it is intentional;)). One needs to very carefully remove mould lines, as they are in visible places, and assembly guide leaves a lot to be desired, showing critical areas of glued miniatures from awkward angles. Precise assembly is really important here, because even tidy misaligned of glued parts will cause bad fitting of finished figures.

Painting itself was really very straightforward, simple and fast (even though I did make some additional steps, to make final effects better (at least in my opinion). I managed to paint three bases of ghosts in well under an hour, it took maybe 40 minutes total. I certainly waited more for paints to dry, then I painted. Making bases was more time consuming also.

I liked those three ghosts bases so much (and short time of painting too), that I decided to launch "Ghost" operation. I searched for all my ghosts and banshees miniatures, stripped paint from some already painted, assembled others and then I painted all of them again - in the same, etheral finish and in just few hours. I will show finished miniatures in next entries of course, and I will make short tutorial about painting them too.

In other news - I decided to strip my old undead cavalry, which was painted as ghosts too. I think it doesn't do justice to these old gems.

Etherals will be quite prominent on the blog for some time, as Mormeg has finished painting his few dozens Army of Dead miniatures for Lord of the Rings game...

  3. Fajne.
