Zdjęcie to rodzaj testu aparatu fotograficznego w nowej komórce...

I'm long overdue with viking camp painting. My brother asked me today, if there is something disturbing my painting. Well, almost whole weekend was devoted to my family, I managed to get about one hour of painting. Basic colors for tent was painted then. In the Sunday's evening I came to two conclusions - first, I can't paint straight long stripes, second - grey color used as a base for brighter stripes is wrong choice. In short - after painting things inside of the tent and wooden parts of the frame, I have had to repaint all canvas material. This time I think I got just right colors, current stage of painting is visible on the attached photo. Canvas got basic colors and I just started to highlight brighter stripes. Darker ones have just basic paint job. I will probably show pictures of viking army without tent soon, as I'm unable to paint it fast enough...
Picture is kind of test of new phone camera... I really belive that phone is for talking and camera is for taking photos but... as I have it anyway...

  2. Looks great. And I appreciate those advices: no gray base coat and paint first the tent interior. Will be very useful when I decide to paint mine.

One question: Have you painted the stripes using some tips or are they a good freehand job?

    Cheers,

  3. Stripes were painted in two ways as I wasn't sure which method will be better... On one side they were painted as a freehand. First results were less then satisfactory but after painting stripes in contrasting colors it looks better now. Certainly helps to paint with long strokes aligned with the stripes. On the second side of the tent I used masking type, sold in modellers stores. Edges of the stripes were definitely more solid and straight but... First, surface of the canvas has some delicate raisings, it is hard to mask them properly but it is probably just me lacking skills. Second - after painting first stripes, one still have to paint or highlight second set of them. And it ruins straight edges of the first stripes. Anyway, after changing colors I went with freehand. After first shadows and highlights it doesn,t look bad I think. But it certainly isn't so easy as I thought.
